About GrantPlain

Plain-English grants for real businesses.

GrantPlain exists for the owners who are too busy running their business to decode government jargon. Our mission is simple: turn complex public grant programs into clear, trustworthy guidance you can act on.

Why we built GrantPlain

For many small businesses, public grants are technically "out there"—but buried in dense PDF documents, hard-to-search portals, and legal language that feels like a second full-time job. Too often, the only people who can really navigate these programs are consultants, lawyers, or large organizations with dedicated staff.

GrantPlain was created to change that. We believe that public money should be accessible in plain language, without paywalls or gatekeepers. Our role is not to sell access, but to reduce friction: one clear summary, one eligibility list, and one direct link to the official application page.

How we use AI and automation

We combine automation tools with modern language models to scan official sources, interpret complex criteria, and rewrite them in straightforward English. Every summary is designed to answer three core questions quickly:

  • What is this grant trying to achieve?
  • Who is realistically eligible?
  • Where do I go to learn more or apply?

Our systems are tuned for caution rather than hype. We would rather under-promise and link you to the official documentation than oversimplify requirements or guarantee outcomes we cannot control.

Built for small business owners

GrantPlain is especially focused on the people who don't have a grant writer on staff: independent owners, local service businesses, early-stage startups, and community organizations. The design of this site—no pop-ups, no paywalls, no distracting ads—is intentional.

We want you to be able to scan a grant page in under a minute, decide whether it is worth your time, and then move on with your day. When a program is not right for you, our goal is for that to be obvious just as quickly.

Independent, transparent, and free to access

GrantPlain is privately owned and not affiliated with any government agency. We do not sell access to grant information, and we do not charge you to see programs that are already public. When we do work with partners, we will label those relationships clearly so you can make informed decisions.

Our commitment is to keep the experience as plain and honest as possible: clear language, clear sources, and clear paths back to the official record.
